there's a sensor on the overflow bottle. Check connector/connection. That thing is what gives the low-coolant signal. If it's bad, you can find a bunch of these at pull-apart...from other cars too.

The mis-fire thing: is it on idle, revving, or under driving operations? Give us an RPM or throttle-position at which it occurs.

it is constant, idle to redline no particular rpm...takin it easy or WAO

Have you run the codes on it to see if any 'silent' codes have been thrown

The prceedure is actually pretty easy, When I get home I can scan in the picture of the connectors and the code retrieval process. It is a simple jumper wire but the placement is critical.

1) You have to have the key off
2) Install jumper
3) Turn Key on but engine of (KOEO)
4) Count the check engine light flashes
5) lookup codes and fix what is needed
6) Repeat steps 1-5 unitl a code 11 is present
7) Now perfom Engine Running test (KOER).
8) Count the check engine light flashes
9) lookup codes and fix what is needed
10) Repeat steps 1-9 unitl a code 11 is present for both KOEO and KOER

Oh yah, one more thing. I have an 86 and mine did not come with a check engine light. I am not to sure but I think 88 california and 89 all states on up did. I think it was the speed density cars that did not have the check engine light. I added one when I switched to mas air.

You screen name says 88 but you sig say 89, so I dont know.

He's talking about his brother's car (1991 GT), so he should be okay as far as the CEL goes.

1991 cool

I have the picture but for some reason it will not allow me to upload it.

As for the codes themself, you can download the EA and goto the DTC tab. It displayes the codes and the description.
