Need to start on the one I bought for the SVO back in the Spring

I got some pic's of mine somewhere. Here's a few others until I find them.
First one is the E6 with copper gasket spray on it. lasted about a week and turned green.
The elbow is the BEST thing I ever did to my engine. 3" stainless. I didn't do that pic but made one just like it.
Last one, on the wish list!

There's alot to work with, match to the turbo and hog the rest.

The exhaust housing is the best money spent. 2.25 on the stock and a full 3" on the one I made.
Head porting then match to the E6 with a paper gasket so they mate up with no ledge.
There is a hump on the E6 that can be taken down some but most of the work will be in the body and the turbo area.
I used the turbo gasket to match the E6 flange. I had to cut some of the inside of the gasket to match the turbo so it would not stick out past the opening.
None of these parts have been ported yet other than the first one and the head at the end.
I think the exhaust port ended up at 1.45" The header at the top is 1.625"(I think)

nice comparison pics Kerry. that is what I was looking for.

How does this work effect low end. Better? Worse?

I think the best low-end gain will be from the cam. Stock cams have .404 lift or thereabouts. A nice cam with a ported head wakes up these things.

I have the extrude-honed manifold and the big turbo...but with a stock head. It's not much help for the bottom end grunt :(

Actually, from the discussions I have had with Kerry and a few few guys from turbo ford, there is not much gains to be had in a "street" SVO with any of the aftermarket cams. From what i have seen, I made the right decision with RR conversion I did in the SVO a few months ago.

As far as daily driving the RR (ranger roller cam) has done the best for me. I have used a high lift cam and power is in the upper rpms. Lower rpms really cry pig. Nothing but good things comes from working on the exhaust.
I got a gutted upper on mine now and really can't tell its on there.

How much would the 3" exhaust help on a basically stock setup? Also what head is better to use from these cars? I have a 85 merkur with the auto. I read it has a smaller cam. I have the ranger cam but not sure if the head is going to help much.

The merk was just about the same engine by 85 as any other turbo ford. 8.5 to 1 compression with dish pistons.

3" at the turbo elbow and out is to me the best money spent. My 2 cents.
