We had a couple bars set in there and I could already see that the Wolfe Racecraft kit fits 100 Xs better than the other so-called "kits" (S&W, Comp Eng, etc) out there. It hugs the sides nice and tight...

How bad was the motor swap in your car? How long did it take, how hard was it, etc, etc...

Easy. If it's a 99+ 4V, you need return style rails from a 96-98 Cobra. Lengthen a couple sensor wires, weld a second bung in the coolant crossover tube (96-98 have 2 ECTs, 99+ has one), tune.

I'm picking up a 04GT and I can't decide if I want to sell it and buy a Mach1 or 99/01 Cobra or do a aviator or mach1 motor swap.:dunno:

What do you think?

Mach1 > 99/01 Cobra IMO. I would get the Mach, it will have a higher resale than a GT w/ a 4V. But if you plan to hack the car up anyways, go with whats cheaper. I'm selling my motor if your interested lol...shipping will be a bitch. Motor, T45, alum flywheel, Spec clutch, LTs, mid pipe, chip, CAI, harness, EVERYTHING to drop into a GT...all you need is 4V fuel rails...

Thanks. I know a guy who put in an S&W cage and it fit like shit. The A-piller bars were seriously 6 inches from the a-piller. And the halo bar was far enough from the roof you could put a fist up there. Looked like ass...

That's what I love about the Wolfe bars. They tuck as tight as possible. It's a much nicer look, plus you don't feel as much like your climbing through a jungle-gym getting in and out!!:metal:

Very nice progress bro!:chug:

Moving along ever so slowly. But time isnt important for me. Figure the longer this car sits, the more cash I save :D

Heres whats left:
Lift cage back up and weld to subframes
Weld rear down bars
Weld seat harness bar
Weld kicker bars
Install interior, dash, etc
Weld door bars
Paint it all

If you cant weld all the way around the tube, its required to weld a gusset. I dont like the way those look, so we dropped the cage through the floor and my buddy was able to TIG all the way around. Much cleaner/stronger IMO.

Here it is w/ a coat of primer on it.

Sorry the pics are a little blurry. Guess I got too close...

This guy is bad ass. He's been welding since the 70s and works for Boeing aerospace now getting paid ALOT. Plus he LOVES Fords, so I knew he was the man to take it to. Plus its free:jester: And that beats $110-150 per weld that a chassis shop would charge.

thats ::crazy:

Yeah, I have a guy here at work that does all my aluminum welding, he is aerospace certified and been welding for over 20 years. :nice:
I also get him to weld the tedious stuff with a TIG that I cant do with my home MIG.

They mount to 6" square plates. Thats the one thing I'm not liking too much. In order to get the bars to look the same inside, they aren't symetrical where they mount in the trunk. But its OK, I'll be cutting the trunk out for the fuel cell really soon:chug:
