Hey guys,

I went to the dyno today with my first shelby 500 customer. He has a black convertiable.

We started out at 421 rwhp / 408 rwtq.

The first tune with the SCT baseline file made 438 rwhp / 421 rwtq, a nice gain of 17 rwhp / 13 rwtq over stock

Next I made some adjustments of my own and made 458 rwhp / 437 rwtq, up 20 rwhp / 16 rwtq over the SCT baseline and 37 rwhp / 29 rwtq over stock.

Finally I made just a few more changes with some timing as the a/f was perfect and ended up with 464 rwhp / 444 rwtq, 43 rwhp / 36 rwtq gain over stock.

The best thing is at different points throughout the RPM band it had gains of 50 rwhp and 50 rwtq. We could have waited 30-45 minutes and/or iced the supercharger but I wanted to see what it would make with minor cool down periods, mainly the time to make a tune and load it in the car. It was very cool though and if this car had an intake and a pulley swap, 550+ would be easily made...

Not to mention though when he drove the car afterwards he loved the new throttle responce from the BamaChips tune, I did make some adjustments to the throttle to reduce the low speed delays, not enough to make it surge while driving but just enough to make it even more fun to drive!

Here are some photo's of the car and the dyno sheets....

Nice work Doug!!

What parameters need improvement on these cars. Timing? Less fuel in the curve?

Are these cars really fat on the a/f from the factory? What boost are they pullied for stock?

The a/f isn't too bad, about 11.3 at WOT but the timing is poor. That's where most of the timing comes from. The boost guage isn't an entirely different monster this year as well as it reads from the intake side of the blower and calculates boost somehow? I don't know, it said 7 psi on the guage but we hooked a manual guage upto it and it was making 9psi.

thanks, Doug.

That's some good work on a bone stock car...

Those cars are pretty impressive, and its nice to see the gains from just a tune on a stock one.

Now if Ford would just build one that is well under 4000lbs :jerkit:
