Part 3

Like I was saying in Part 2, there was nothing left of the old 351. So I ordered a whole Longblock assembly that I will show you in Part 4.

But I still had a lot of work to do before the engine gets here. The engine is scheduled to be here on the 14th (Yep . . 7 days before I leave to drive this truck out to Lightning Fest!!!)

I had planned on using the 6 week before LFest to do some maintenance work to the L since it would be driven so far.
So now I had to hurry up and get all that stuff finished up before the new engine arrives.
So for the past 4 weeks I have been doing the following:

Front wheels:
new shocks
new calipers
new brake pads
new brake rotors
new inner and outer wheel bearings
new wheel bearing seals
new brake lines from the frame to calipers
new cotter pins, dust caps and caliper pins

Rear Axle:
swapped 4.10 gears out for 3.73’s
new wheel seals
new inner and outer pinion bearings
new pinion seal
new brake line from frame to housing
deleted unused parking brake cables

Misc.:
New transmission front pump seal
New rear trans. Seal
Install new front tank fuel pump
Polishing the new aluminum cold side pipes that I made
LOTS of cleaning and paining underneath to remove 211,000 miles and 13 years worth of grime

Here are some pics:

Only reason some of that was not done this go around is because Eric's powder coat oven was tied (as you can see in these pics)

I figure we could get it done when you do a h/c/i

:slap: you don't have a frame.

I pressure cleaned the front subframe in the engine compartment.

By the way, I wouldn't attempt to remove all the undercoat under the white car for any amount of money

Dang you have some serious patience, no way I could spend that much time doing all that, but it looks really good

But think how much easier it will wash off now without the 13 years of dirt buildup :nice:
