View Full Version : Opinions on these wheels??

I originally wanted SSR GT3's. But I keep hearing horror stories of them being soft and bending.

So.....I'm thinking about these BBS's. Let me know what ya'll think.

They're ok, but they just don't look like a Mustang wheels.

Wanna buy your 10th anniversarys back? :jester:

Personally I don't like them. I'm not sure what it is but they just don't look agressive enough.

I don't like em either, but I don't like any wheels like that. I gotta have chrome.

I don't like chrome, myself.

I'm just fishing around for different styles right now. I don't want the BBS RK's because they're too much like what I already have now.

I'm planning on spending in the 550-600 a wheel neighborhood. I just don't want to go any hogher than that.

Its a nice looking wheel but like someone else mentioned, it may not look right on a mustang.

Well...the reason I even looked at this type of wheel is because how some road racing mustangs I have seen use that type. And they look pretty good.

As I said though...I'm just looking around.

I like those kind of wheels. They may look better with a little more lip to them.

I think the would look great on a BMW or Benz, but I don't think so on a Mustang. Have you looked at any CCWs Fiskes. They have some good looking mesh wheels. I don't like CCW classics as much any more but they have other good looking wheels.

Yep, I've looked....and they're rediculously expensive. Fikse, Forgeline, iForged, HRE are all about 900-1000 dollars a wheel.

I haven't really found prices for CCW's but I'm guessing they're about the same. And a lot of their wheels are polished and not clear-coated. Therefore you have to continue to polish them. Unless you get chrome and I don't do chrome. And I refuse to pay that kind of coin for something that you have to continually polish.

Alright guys.....I'm open for suggestions for a non-chrome wheel with a nice lip in the 550-600 per wheel range. In 18x9...18x10-10.5 sizes. Anyone have any suggestions????

I also was considering these. I love the dish and split five spoke design. But I just don't care for the new style where the end of the spokes curve in like this one.

Yep....that's a very nice wheel. And I like the Boost wheel also. Thanks for the link Wall. I hadn't checked those out before.

The only killer on those are.....they're getting up there in the cost also. I would stick to 17's with those if they had a 17x9. They only have a 17x8 and a 17x10. Then when you go to 18x9 and 18x10 the price goes to about 650/wheel fronts and about 750/wheel rears. And that's with a high polish that costs an extra 55 a wheel for clear coat so you won't have to continue polishing. So that brings it to 1400 for the fronts and 1600 for the rears. That's getting up there.

CRAP!!!! I may just have to suck it up and spend more than I planned. I just didn't want to.

I really think a 8in wheel would look good in front especially with the right back spacing.

Yeah.....it's just a little harder calculating backspacing in millimeters like they do now. And I can't stand that "sunk-in" look. Plus, I like to have as much tire as possible up front also. But, if I knew the spacing would be right...I'd consider it.

I LOVE this wheel.........

I post over at protouring.com and they are a sponser. Boze seems to be real helpful and will work with you on the backspacing plus if you register over on pro touring then I believe you'll get a little discount. BTW 1" = 25.4mm if you need to convert the backspacing.

Those aren't bad. I'm not a fan of the way the end of the spokes are done.

Plus, it only comes in chrome. The only bling I like is clear-coated polished.

But keep the suggestions coming. :D

These are the wheels that I originally wanted. But then I started hearing stories of them bending easily. I'm not sure if most of those are attributed to them being 19's or bigger and less sidewall on tires or even driving habits or what. But I've heard of people that have had them for years and haven't had any problems......I'm at a loss. Anybody heard anything about them either way??

SSR GT3's

I think its mostly driving habits, if you drive over big bumps fast with small sidewalls your going to bend your wheels. There is was a couple sets of those on svtp for sale.

Everyone keeps saying that they see them on SVTP. But I can't seem to find them there.

Just now, I went there and scrolled through 30 pages going back into September and didn't find the first add for SSR's.

Yeah I know.....it looks fine on the rears. But it usually makes the fronts look like crap on a narrower wheel.

Did you try a search? They have a lot of different for sale forums over there (terminator parts, other Cobra parts, etc) and a lot of people list things in the wrong forums (such as listing parts that will work on any Cobra in the Terminator forum).

No, I didn't search. I was there looking around as a guest and didn't see a search icon. I may have to register to get that option.

I guess I need to register and try it.

I've just about got it narrowed down to this wheel. They said the rear would have about a 4" lip and about a 2" lip on the front. I'm unsure if I want to go gunmetal gray in the center or keep it all polished like this pic......

I knew you would like the all polished! :bling: :D

They actually say that as long as you wash your car/wheels at least once a month, then you don't have to do any polishing. He also suggested putting a good coat of wax on 'em when you first get 'em.

I don't know. That's why I'm thinking of a colored center. Then it's only the lips that require up keep.
