If I recall correctly, the 94-95 T-5's have a longer input shaft. So to answer your question, no a 87-93 will not work in a SN-95 chassis. You'll also need a 94-95 specific bellhousing too.

I think Jase had a fox t5 in this 94 for a while. Not sure what was done to make it work in his car though.

In order to make a fox t-5 fit you will need a fox bell housing.

sooooo you CAN use a fox, but you just need a longer input shaft?

You can check D&D Performance, they have a lot of info on T-5's

Also they have the 94-95 rebuilt for $995. I think this has some upgrades in it, go check it out.

just use a fox t5 and bellhousing and get a driveshaft spacer from UPR.the shifter will sit a little forward but you can make yourself a custom handle to set it back.

Why not keep it simple and just switch out the input shaft if he gets a fox t-5

:agree:
That would be the correct way to do it. FYI, you can get a brand new input shaft and bearing retainer for about $100 and they're easy as hell you change out.

. . . just remeber to swap the bearing race and shim into the new retainer. ;)

If you put a fox T5 in the car, with the SN95 bellhousing, it will work for a few miles, but the input shaft does not sit in the pilot...it ends up just floating out there; not good. Thus, the shaft gets alot of lateral loading and eventually the input bearing and that first gear will crap out.

Either use an SN95 bellhousing with an SN95 transmission, or a fox bellhousing with a fox transmission and the driveshaft spacer.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows that -- and as far as I can tell, nobody has suggested doing that.

What they are saying is to use a t-5 and bell housing from a fox. It would work fine, except that the shifter would sit futher forward.

I know. Just explaining why it ends up having trouble. ;)

just changing the input shaft would be so much simpler.

ok so...fox t5 with fox bellhousing with the right input shaft will do it?

Make sure the bell-housing has the pivot ball -- although, if it is well-worn, it would be a good idea to go ahead and replace it. You'll also need the clutch fork in addition to what has already been mentioned above.

Also, a lower and upper shift boot

dylan020

ok upper and lower shift boots, clutch cable and clutch, flywheel, and pilot bearing, quadrant, and pivot ball possibly

well since we are talking about this subject in hand, i have a 84 fox with a 351 going in it. im putting a 5 speed in it and it is a sn-95 t-5, is there anything i might need to know when im puting this thing in? im hearing about input shaft problems while converting to a fox t-5 to a sn95 mustang, but will the problem will be the same for my conversion, because im fixing to finish this thing in the next couple of weeks. just need to know before i start spending money on stuff that i dont need.

if you don't swap the input shaft you will have to use a sn95 bellhousing
