Anybody here fooled with one? How does it compare to the Tweecer

from what I understand it's somewhat simpler in that you don't have all the control that the TwEECer has. Such as what parameters you can access. But that's just from my limited/foggy knowledge

Some pretty big class racers in NMRA use it. And IIRC, it is quite a versatile setup.

Check NMRAracing.com and search it. :nice:

That's kinda what I thought and what I am interested in. The tweecer following seems to have died off some and I am wanting to learn something new as well.

If I understand correctly it also comes with a base file (that takes your mods into consideration) and only has to be manipulated a little to be right

That's sound right from what I gathered ... when you order the pms they want to know exactly what your setup is. Some of the latest upgrades for the PMS systems have given it more versatility.

I wonder if you can use a wideband with it

Dont know about the older versions but the latest version does work with wideband.

I believe so, at least I can say for certain that AFM offers the UEGO 2000 Wideband.

The features that AFM lists for their PMS are:

1. Plug-n-play. No wiring needed.
2. Tuning from idle to 9900 rpm in 500 rpm increments.
3. Tuning by boost - up to 30lb with 3 bar map sensor.
4. Tuning for Nitrous.
5. Tuning by air charge temp or water temp.
6. Individual cylinder tuning for both timing and fuel.
7. Stores three separate tuning programs.
8. Real time tuning - while engine is running.
9. No waiting for flashing or uploading.
10. Full tuning ability through Key pad (no lap top needed).
11. Dual micro’s for faster processing than OEM.
12. Full sequential stand alone.
13. View screen on key pad monitoring all data.

We use one on one of our blower cars, works very well, just get the data logging software when you buy one, It will work with a wide band.

I like the fact that you can set it to become a stand alone at a certain rom

Yes, there are 2 Stand Alone trigger points (Throttle Position and RPM) for both fuel and timing.

And I especially like the fact that you can tune to 9,900 rpm.

Yes the stand alone is the best feature on the pms in my opinion.

Lee,

Just go ahead and fork over the extra cash
for an AEM EMS and be done with it. The AEM
is not going to cost much more at all than the
late model PMS & datalogging option....

Depending on who you buy it from you will get
a base tune with the AEM to start from.
If you need a recommendation for the AEM let me know.

Unless of course you are just looking for something
that all you do not need a laptop to tune with....:jester:

Can't Dale. I am not big money like you.

My combo is pretty much based off a conversation I had with Rick a few months back. Might as well try his PMS for a year or two and learn it.

Its gonna be pretty neat leaving the line on a two step that the PMS has built in :D

Yeah but what you do not know is that I saved money & did work on the side

hey lee did you buy the aem or the pms and what do you think about it ? the chip I had in my coupe burned slap up when my eec went out and I am looking for a new way to tune my car.

The PMS is useless for anything other than WOT.

If you want to learn to tune, get a Tweecer R/T. Best tuning tool for a foxbody

Forgot to mention...

The PMS is good for nitrous and boosted race cars. You can tie the nitrous solenoids into it and it will act as a window switch. Boosted motors you can use it because it uses a sensor and you can control fuel and timing based off boost at WOT.
If Rick and those guys ever get it to where you can control all driving conditions instead of WOT, it will be an awesome tool

OK, I have been looking at the diablo chip on there web site and am trying to get some info on buying a diablo setup so I can tune my car with a lap top but I am not sure on what to buy. I also like the tweecer rt you suggested because of all the different options they they have as well. I am just undecided right now I guess. Thanks Lee

If this is for a foxbody you may also want to look at the Moates Quater Horse.

The two best options for the foxbody's are the TwEECer-RT & Moates QH.
They are the only ones to date that I know of that will datalog an EEC-IV.

and real time datalogging is very important!

Would anyone recommend this for my car? With the turbo kit on the 351w I will be running 80lb. injectors with a blowthrough maf. I would be new to the whole tunning my own car but its pay the $930 for this or spend $250 for a chip and then $450 for the dyno time and someone else to tune it. This is not a daily driven car the only time it gets out of the garage is on the weekend if the sun is out and there is less than a 20% chance of rain.
