looking for a cheap (really cheap) project. thinking of something 5.0 powered, maybe a TBird or Mark VII. How hard is a T-5 swap into one of these? really just looking for something to rag on, maybe spray :metal:

any ideas or comments?

you should be able to find a thunderbird very reasonable

Personally, I would do the tbird over the mark vii. With the mark 7 you would have to change over the whole suspension, or deal with the air suspension which is a pita and can be expensive to fix.

I owned a Mark VII and had not even though about that Joker, you can tell how well I have thought this out. I do like the last gen TBirds, anyone know the years they had a 5.0?

DIRT Cheap! Really looking for a 5.0 due to the ease of finding parts and such. how much is it?

I think the tbirds switched to the 4.6 v8 in 94, so anything older than that should have a 5.0 if it is a v8 car.

Mercury Capri? I think they are usually cheaper than Fox bodies and are basically the same car.

No, and while it's not impossible to swap one in, it might as well be. You need 2 T45's, and you cut part of the housing off of one and weld it onto the other one to extend the housing, otherwise the shifter would come up underneath the radio. It's not really worth the huge amount of trouble to put a 5 speed in. I checked into doing this with my '95 after it kept having problems with automatics.

The Supercoupes did, but they have blown 3.8L engines in them. Not sure what tranny they used or whether you could get a housing that would mate up with the 5.0L. I would assume not since it appears Joseph has already done the research.

The 5.0 cars did come with manuals. That car is a 4.6, and they were not offered with a manual.

did some searching around and found out a few things, should have just waited for you guys. I found a few SCs but the idea of a 20+ year old turbo car worries the crap out of me. I just have more faith in a 5.0 car from the same years.

I'm partial to the Mark VII's but I won't get butthurt if someone decides to mod something else. Too many Marks geting done if you ask me!

My current DD until my TT mark VII is back together has HCI and a T56. Run's low 8's on motor and gets 26mpg on the highway. In style.
