Well got the old t5 back in today. Shifts perfect. :banana: ,but I had to repalce 2nd gear with one from another trans thanks by the way Brian now when in 2nd gear I'm getting a whine. Is this to be expected???

No it shoudl not be whining.

If you did not replace the cluster with 2nd gear, then you probably have a difference in wear pattern

Thats what I thought (different wear pattern) Wouldn't that cause the whine?

Yeah, I meant to ask you about the condition of the cluster and why you would only have to repair the 2nd gear and not the cluster. If you traumaticlly take out 2nd gear, then usually they both get taken out. If you were only replacing the gear because it appeared warn, then likely the cluster had the same abnormal wear on it too. This would likely cause a whine if just replacing the output shaft gear (whether or not you used a new or used gear from a different T-5).

It's likely something you have to deal with until you replace both the cluster and the gear with new parts.

I need to get a spare 3rd and cluster for the upcoming events :D

I didn't blow out any of the gears, it just didn't like to go in 2nd and when it did it would spit it out. Once inside I found that the alignment teeth on the gear were rounded off pretty good, thats why I just needed 2nd gear.
