Does anybody know if a tire with a width of 225 would fit on a 8.5 inch wide wheel safely? I know the width of my current wheel is 7.5 and Ive been looking around for some new wheels, but I want to reuse my existing tires.

might be stretching it a bit thin. Stock sn95 mustangs come with 17x8 and 245/45 tires.. and they seem about even sidewall wise. Thats just my un-educated personal opinion.

Im honestly not even sure if they make the wheels in my bolt pattern...I sent a message via their website to find out but here at the wheels in question and they aren't that expensive from what Ive seen:

Technically 225 millimeters is 8.85 inches so you should be fine.

I think it'll work, but it might look a little funny because I bet the sidewall is going to angle inward.

Im still waiting for an email from one of their reps to see if they do make them in my bolt pattern. There are a couple other sets that Im interested in that I know will fit because they are either the factory size or within 1/2 inch of factory.

The other is a typical BBS style mesh wheel

That looks better than the 1st one you posted IMO. :yup:

No. a 225 would look like a$$ on a 8.5" wheel.

Remember the measurement is NOT taken from lip to lip. It is where the tire bead mounts on both sides

That one reminds me a lot of the FR500s on the Mustang. I know they make that one in my size but the offset is just a tad off from the factory, but it should still work from what I was told. Those are only $160/wheel too.
