Well not exactly a project CAR, but it's a project. The story goes like this. My mom bought this Harley Sportster 1200 for my little sister. A week later a van comes over in her lane and hits her. She was only going about 20-25 so neither her or the bike were really hurt. It scared my mom a little, but my sister is fearless lol. For the time being, my sister is on my moms really nice Harley trike. Well my mom owed me a little money, so she gave me the bike.

So here is what I have to work with on my Sportster bobber project. LOL.

I already put the stock seat on it, took the windshield off, and ditched the saddle bags and the sissy bar. It gonna end up being flat/semi-gloss black. Exhaust, lowered, drag bars, chopped fenders, solo seat and who know's what else.

I rode it 300 miles back from Pensacola last night. I feel greeeeaaat today.:nono:

And a skull face bandana and skeleton gloves. Plus I weigh like 60lbs so. I'm pretty much just gonna look like a skeleton riding a harley.:D

Looks like a nice starting point you have there. I love bobber styled bikes.
That sissy bar looks ridiculous on that bike though.

Ohhh yeah it does. It was good to strap my backpack to though. I had it off as soon as I got home. I'll post a picture of what it looks like now a little later on. For as little time as it took to do the bike looks waaay cleaner without all that crap.:yup:

Yeah, that's what I originaly wanted, but this one kinda fell into my lap. It's gonna look just as good, just for alot less money.

That black bike would look good with a narrow harley orange pinstripe around the white on the tank.

Yeah, most bike people don't really like the sportster, but that style is what I see when I think sportster. I don't think a dyna or a softail would look right in that style.

I think it's the tall funky tank that makes it look good.:D

Since you aren't going for the chrome look you should check out some harley forums and see if anyone want to trade their OEM non-chrome parts and some money for your chrome parts.

I think I'm going do anything I get powdercoated gloss black because I'm afraid it won't match the paint. My neighbor can do the small stuff for me. If I need anything big I'll let you know.:yup:

Oh can you do wrinkle?

Little more progress. I made some solid struts in the back. I decided I wasn't going to be able to get it low enough without hardtailing it. It's lowered 1 5/8 from stock now. I've just got them mocked up right now. I have to put bushings in them and do some more machining to make 'em look good. I don't know if I'm going to paint 'em or polish em yet.

I bobbed the fender off too. I just threw it and the tank on so I could see what it's going to look like.

I should have know that would be your vote.:D I think they're gonna get painted the same as the fender. I've got to get the bushings made and clean up the fender edges so I can get it painted. I've got to order exhaust, a seat, and some bars too.:eric:

Well she's pretty much done. I've got a couple little things to do. I'll probably put something on the tank, and black heatwrap the pipes. I have to get red lenses for the back and a harness to turn them into brake lights and I've got to make a tag bracket. I ended up just making my bars, and the rear "struts". It rides better than I thought it would as a hardtail. Here of some pics. I'm pretty happy with it. What do you guys think?

Nah it's not loud.:D

It's a 130. I would have to grind some bolts to get a 140. It would be tough to put a 150 on it.

It does look huge lol. Probably wouldn't look as big if I had the fender on.

Have any of you guys seen the chopper around town with the 30in front wheel? It looks absolutely rediculous.

Bars, exhaust, lowered, hardtailed, seat, and of course paint which is just a normal black base with a flattened clear(PPG flex-and-flat). I've got a little over $500 in all the changes. Not bad considering the end result.:yup:
