what is the spout connector on the distibutor becouse somone told me i had to unplug it when setting the timing the only thing i could fing on it was themain plug and the car wont run with the main connector unplugged and my car is still ideling about 2k rpm

Yes, you must remove the SPOUT to set timing.

The SPOUT check connector is a little gray rectangle plugged into the wire bundle coming off the TFI module on the distributor. Just follow the wire from the TFI plug, it's like four inches down.

In addition to what Jim said... SPOUT stands for SPark OUTput and is the ignition signal from the ECU. The connector is merely a shorting plug that eliminates the signal when it is unplugged. Without this signal, the ECU will not change the timing from base.

ok so when i disconnect the spout i have a neg 10 deg retard and a 0 degree and upwards from there do i tune the car to 0 degree with out any advance on the timing light or do i set the light to 10 and then adjust till its there or do i need to mark ten degree on the balancer and just tun to that with nothing oin the timing light? right now i have 0degree marked and i have my timing light set to 10 degrees advance

10 degrees is stock -- you don't want to put it any lower than that. Go ahead and bump it up to 14 degrees advance and try that. If it doesn't knock under acceleration, you can try bumping it up a little further, but try not to get too crazy.

Make sure you use premium gas once you start advancing the timing above stock.
