Non start at times?! HELP!!
Ok guys i need some help with this. My car has been getting worse. Some times you can go outside and go to start it and it starts within a half a rotation of the engine. And other times it acts like it is flooded and you have to mash the gas pedal to the floor to get it to start. And it kinda stumbles for a second and runs fine afterword. And when its cold it will idle fine. But when its hot it will idle roll really bad untill it dies. check engine is not on and yes it works lol any help would be great

Sounds like either the coil breaking down,or the TFI module.

Just because the check engine light isn't on doesn't mean that no codes are stored. I would pull the codes and diagnose from there.

Is this the '90 model from your sig? Or the '88? If it's a MASS AIR car, I would start by cleaning the element in the meter with some carb-spray. Then do the basics first, like plugs, wires, cap, rotor...and look at the TPS voltage. These simple things might fix it.
There is also something called a "Thermactor Air Bypass" solenoid which is picky about cold-starts. It's a little solenoid with a grey cap on it, located on the back side of the passenger-side shock-tower (see pic below). The little cap can be popped off and there is a foam-filter inside... it's glued down lightly, but you can easily take it off... blow the dust out of it with an air-blower and re-install with the cap back on. For some reason, if those things are dirty, they can cause havoc. http://ddilts.net/mustangs/dan_marlowe/solenoid.jpg |
Yes it is the 90. Its not stock so that dont help maters any. All of the plugs, cap, rotor and tune up stuff is fairly new. I have cleaned the maf a few times. And i dont the have "Thermactor Air Bypass" solenoid or any of the smog stuff.
