Need some valve spring input here!

Ok,I've been reading up on Crane's website, and found some single springs (with dampers),that work on factory heads with no machine work.My first question is,does anybody know if they work with the factory retainers? Next question, does anybody know the installed height of AFR 165 springs?,I have a complete like new set, that are rated for .550 lift, but would require new retainers.I'm going to do this right, but at the cheapest option.I'm really leaning towards just getting a matched set of Crane springs/retainers(which I know will be the BEST way to go),that are good for .550 minimum, because I'm going to put my 1.7's on the GT-40's,which with the E cam, will bump my lift from .498 up to .528. It's been a long time since I built up some high performance heads,so I'm a bit rusty! Just need some suggestions guys, thanks!

I ran trickflow's OEM spring replacement kit on my OEM GT-40's when they were on the cobra. Pretty sure they came with locks and retainers. Look them up on Summit's web catalog. Its been a few years but the kit was only around $120 at the time
