I had the stage 8's before and don't believe they are worth the money imo. Plus they are another headache on top of the install. I used stock bolts with new ford gaskets on my last install and no problems.

I did the same thing when I had the 96 cobra, never had a problem with the stock hardware.

those locking bolts suck
it is easier to just tighten them up after about ten min of driving. and it is cheaper.

I installed them on a fox body years ago and the had to be the biggest pain in the A**. I'd wouldn't dare try it on a mod motor I'd be freaking BALD.

I agree with the above comments. Header bolt are bad enough to deal with by themselves without adding some locking mechinism to complicate it even more.

On a side note, I use the ARP (stainless) bolts which gives you a 3/8" hex head that allows easier access with a wrench. This is especially useful with the larger primary tubes (1-5/8"+).

Yup, stage 8s suck. Did it the first time around. Then when the BBK gaskets blew out (hey, I was a n00b!), I hated them. Used OEM metal gaskets and studs and double nutted them. Never an issue again!

alright so im better off using the stock bolts or the same length and thread but with bigger heads?

Italian LX 03-08-2008 11:54 AM

If you get a bigger head, it's going to make it even harder to get on them with a wrench. That's why I use the ARP bolt with the 3/8" head.
