you guys have to think this is my 1st real motor build. i built my 4 banger years ago and it turned out ok but would have came apart if i would have ran it much longer. because the machine shop did not balance it and i did not know.and i have rebuilt a few chevys.:jester: but never have had this much just in a short block!!! i have read so much on this setup for the past 3 months i am about sick of it! but i have learned alot of good info and will share what i have learned with anyone. what is that saying 2 heads are smarter than 1! :nixon:

I bet :jester:
I know a 4 is close, watched a friend assemble his. Another guy around here is running a 4.1 but it was done before I got to see it and I think he is running a small base circle cam.

X3. No need for a high volume unless you're running an oil cooler, turbo, etc, that needs it, otherwise you'll just create drag and windage. Take a standard volume pump, disassemble it all the way (including the freeze plug that holds the pressure spring in), clean up all the casting flash with a Dremel, or die grinder, and chamfer all the ports. When you put it back together, stack two 3/8" washers as shims in the freeze plug for the spring. That should give you about 80 psi oil pressure cold, and about that at cruising speed at operating temp.
