i have tore 2 motors down to find 1 i can do a stock bore with. so i put the crank in and checked end play and i have 4 on the gauge:shrug: and put a rod and piston in to see how deep the piston is in the hole at TDC and it is 16 on the gauge. so with the fel-pro Z10112 gasket (.039 in. Compressed Thickness) i am have the block deck .010 to put me in my .045 quench pad range.so it goes to machine shop tues to get decked, cam bearings, and freeze plugs:metal::metal:

I would check all 4 corners to see how much to deck the block. I have seen them have .004~.006 difference from front to rear and side to side.

I did and .010 will do it.
