Well, I figured out what it was - the rod to the wastegate was sticking. Anyway, the valve is holding firm at 18psi which is max for the stock IHI turbo. All good... for now!

Thanks! Now I just gotta polish everything else, but the upkeep is a pain on a DD...

Actually, there's less sound with this BOV because it vents the pressure back to the front of the turbo....
