Standard Head Gaskets on an O-ringed Head?
Can a standard head gasket be used under a head cut for O-ring without any issues? Or do you have to run a loc-wire gasket with them?

Re: Standard Head Gaskets on an O-ringed Head?
Any idea why the heads are o-ringed? Have they been milled a lot?

supposedly for high compression and forced induction. a friend used those, Trickflow said use the lock wire. not sure why, maybe they just want the extra money. he bought his used so i didnt see any proof, just going by what he said. :shurg:

The reason I'm asking the question is that I bought these heads for my 427 project; however, I may slap them on the 302 for the time being. I really didn't feel like paying $120 for a set of loc-wire head gaskets on an N/A 302.

not sure. try it. you wouldnt think the N/A would would be enough to cause any separation problems. which Trickflows are they? if they are going to work with the 427, wont they kill the 302?

I'm really just curious as to what it would do on the 302.

I do not believe you can use them without a o0ring head gasket.
The gap area where the o-ring would seat in would most likely blead off your cylinder pressure.

i was wondering why you were putting them on the 302. go ahead and hit that motor with a 250 shot before you pull it out.
