good combo for a lightweight vehicle
Planning on a roller 306. Have a set of stock E7's, also a set of windsor jrs. This will be going in a 46 pickup with an overdrive & 3.73 gear. Max HP is not a concern, this thing wont hook if it's life depended on it. Truck gets driven on an almost weekly basis, and we make long hauls, 500-1500 mi on occasion. What i need is something that has real good throttle response, and will pull hard from a rollng start.....
Any input appreciated, smartass comments always welcome |

Re: good combo for a lightweight vehicle
well I wouldn't even consider bolting the E7's on since you have some windsor jr heads. Look at mild cams. (E303, maybe the crane 2030, etc)
Is this going to be a carb setup or are you going to install fuel injection? |

Re: good combo for a lightweight vehicle
If your going to use the stock 95 GT intake manifold, I don't think I would go bigger than an E303 sized cam, as I don't think the intake will flow much more than theat cam will want, let alone anything bigger.
If you have the money for it, take the E7 heads and have a 1.86 intake and 1.54 exhaust valves put in. When this is done have the machine shop do a good 5 angle vale job, and open up the bowl are just a little bit. The stock heads in the exhaust runner have the emission hump, cut this completly down, also do a port match on both the intake and exhaust. Lastly cut the heads even, just take a hair off of them. I would think that with this minor head work, the E cam you should be able to see around 240-260 HP, I had a similiar combo with a carb. and it was in that bal park.
