intercooler

I just bought a used 05 GT and I'm wondering what type of fluid is used in the liquid to air intercooler, It has the roushcharger. The fluid has an oily feel to it. Any one know? I will have alot of questions later as I learn the car.

somebody may have used a coolant like the 03-04 cobras and lightings used. It was similar to antifreeze. That would explain the oily feel it has.

Yeah it should be the same of very similar to the fluid like Lee said. Need something in it to keep it from freezing.

Where did you see that it is only water?

As stated above, it should be some sort of anti-freeze/water mixture; otherwise, I wouldn't park that thing outside in the winter.

I would assume that if was to use some type of special liquid it would have said as such instead of "Air-to-Water". That being said, there's no reason not to use a similar mix that you use in your radiator.

It will still say air-to-water regardless of what mixture is used. I can't imagine using water in a car up north.

It's air-to-water as opposed to an air-to-air intercooler. They are not going to get specific in what type of fluid to use in the description of the unit.

Then you agree that it is more than just water.

I don't know what it is Dale's car. What I'm saying is that they are stating you don't have to use any type of special fluid; it can be just water.

So, if they aren't going to be specific - if it took a special oil - then I could say I just put water in my engine instead of oil based on the 'air-to-water' statement?

Oil / Special fluid != water.

Bottom line, I'm just stating they don't specify a special liquid so it can be water; or anti-freeze-water mix.

This is what I've heard more often than air-to-water.
