checking input shaft?

i am pulling my tranny this weekend. i would like to know what to look for on the input shaft? does anyone know where a good write up is on setting one?

When I put mine in I just checked the end play. You just need a dial indicator for that.

He can do a quick check by wiggling the input shaft by hand... if you feel it move side-to-side at all, then the end-play likely needs to be tightended up.

Do you have a T-45 or a 3650?

i have the t-45 in there now. My 3650 has something broke in 2nd.

yea if the input shaft is not installed correctly it will eat through throwout bearings like nothing, and on top of that its really hard to shift in high rpm. im pretty shure thats the problem i have.

it is not my tob it is my input shaft! the thing is like it is about to fall out. what are my options? should i fix the 3650 or fix the input shaft. i already have a good shifter for the t-45.
