5.4 into a '79 fox project

Got a lightining that i was in a bad accident in and a '79 mercury capri with no motor n im hoping to put the 5.4 in her. was looking 4 some help on making this project go more smoothly n quicker then its goin rite now...like what tranny am i going to have to use and im sure im goin to have to modifiy the drive line too. And what mods if any to the engine bay? I appreciate the help.

P.S. me and a friend couldn't get a lightning motor with blower into a fox even with a 8inch cowl. Your gonna have to cut an opening in the hood.

There are drop mounts and if you get an aftermarket blower then you can fit it under a reasonable cowl.

ALSO tommy (miillwillinc) can help you out with a LOT of 5.4 info.

all you need do is buy a 96-04 GT/Cobra K-member and it will bolt directly into the fox...now the wiring stuff is another issue....

as for the lighting blower...huge waste

it does not make good power, it's way too tall

whipple and KB make a 5.4 2v blower with the intake to the side instead of on top which would give you significantly more hood clearance

and if you go turbo/centri/NA you can fit it under a stock hood with the hps 5.4 intake

my 2v 5.4 with the HPS intake AND a 3/4" thick nitrous plate clear's the stock hood on my 00 gt(it did require a small notch in the hood bracing for the tb linkage though)
