Re: highway RPM's with 3:73's

Assuming a 5-speed, you'll see about 2600 rpm which wont be bad at all. You might acctually pick up a MPG or two. It wont be bad at all. Good all around gear.

I'd stick with 3.73's in a GT

Re: highway RPM's with 3:73's

would you guys say 3:55 over 3:73? i really will never be on the highway becuase i have no reason to be, but every once and a while i have to make a trip to fun ford and other shows.

Re: highway RPM's with 3:73's

3.55 wouldnt be a big difference over the stock 3.27's. I'd defintely go 3.73's for a street/mild track gt. Great all around gear. 4.10's are good and fun, but in a SOHC 4.6 it starts getting into its powerband sooner than a 4v and it may effect gas mileage slightly. If thats a concern at all, stick with 3.73's.

Btw, at 80 you will be about 2800-2900rpm in 5th.

Re: highway RPM's with 3:73's

You can do whatever you want and the gears will only compliment it.

Oh and when you change your speedo, you can use a chip or a speedcal. Personally I would go with a Chip (like teh SCT chips, I use Doug904 of bamachips.com) just because on top of speedo recalibration, you can get a custom tune including more power, better cooling effects, better driveability and a good chance of getting better mpg.
