Not really! Matching a camshaft to your intake/head combo is much more important. If you are going to keep a stock (or close to stock) head/intake combo, go with either an "E" or "B" Ford cam. I think Crane makes an "E" style cam that's priced reasonably. It really depends on your budget as to how fast you want to go.

good suggestions.. me personally, the best money I spent was a tranny swap. I had an auto in my 5.0 and to say I hated it, is an understatement..granted the aod is better than the AODE, but there's nothing like rowing gears in a 5.0.. Z spec, T5, Tremec,

Unless your gonna get diff. heads and intake dont waste your money or time with cam it by itself is not gonna be noticable.Gears, shift kit and a good intake will be noticable. You said you have flows and 2 1/2 exaust thats good. Also dont waste money on a cold air kit,Unless u want it for looks its really not gonna help either,I would just get a drop in k&n filter. This is just my opinion, just suggesting the most bang for the buck.

I would do 4.10's, shift kit, pulleys, shorty headers, offroad x pipe, timing to 14 degrees, drop in k&n, FRPP wires, autolite 25's and a adjustable FPR. If you could find a cheap explorer or cobra intake to add plus some 1.7 rockers that would be a decent lil street strip car.
