not really sure yet what i wanna do,but i do know i'm swapping the rear end,tubular front end and nitrous all to another car with my pa super comp c4,i'm just not sure what motor to go with,my dss 331 or build a 393.i know i can get a little over 500hp (per 175 shot) to the tires with my 331,but i have a almost new std bore 351 windsor roller engine with edelbrock rpm heads i gotta do somethin with,but it has dish pistons in it.so i am on the fence of what to do,i know i dont wanna spend a lot of money either way.

Sounds like the perfect candidate for a turbo setup.

Not really as it still does not tell us what alloy.

The amount of hp that the pistons will handle still depends on the alloy that was used when the pistons were forged. Just an FYI the old original TRW pistons were a different alloy than some of the ones that they make now since they are under Federal Mogul.

If it is a 4032 forging it will not hold no where near as mush as a 2618 forging.

The 4032 alloy is about like a Probe FPS piston. And they do not like a lot of boost or nitrous. About 400-450 as long as heat or detonation does not get them.

If it is a 2618 forging they will hold a lot of hp probably around 800-1000 as long as the tune is correct.

Turbos are relatively easy on rods and pistons (at least in the areas where forces are involved). As long as the tuneup is right, I don't thing those pistons will be a problem for 500hp.

btw...I've seen a STOCK 351W shortblock with AFR's and a 76mm turbo make 575rwhp through a stickshift.
