Front Bearing question???????

Our SVT Focus has a bad front wheel bearing. We got a replacement and installed it but it didn't have a dust cover with it. The Ford diagram shows NO dust cover. My oldest son (Honda Driver) says it has to have a dust cover and it went bad because it didn't have one. The bearing that we installed looks like a SEALED bearing, I keep telling him SEALED bearings don't need dust covers.

Am I wrong or is he wrong??.....I want to get this thing put back together!!

If its a sealed bearing and the didn't have one on it to begin with, I would let it ride

dust covers are only present on Honda and Mitsubishi made vehicles that I have seen in 12+ years in the auto parts industry. GM, Ford, Mazda, Toyota, Nissan, Chrysler, and everybody else has a sealed bearing with no dust cover.
