smoke

Gotta question about my 05GT. Lately when I crank it in the mornings it smokes a little on initial start up and after that it smells rich, also it would start up pretty loud now it's quieter. I have checked the plugs and cleaned the air cleaner, I also reinstalled the SCT tune Doug gave me after dyno tune, no effect. Any suggestions? Could a bad O2 sensor cause this? The car has long tube headers and no cats. The guy that owned the car before me cut the leads that go to the aft O2 sensors and and then spliced in more wire.

Is this the first time it has happened? Both my 08 and the wife's 01 Cobra will puff blue smoke on initial start up. They always have. Especially so if they have sat for more than a day without being started.

Everything I have read about it shows that it is completely normal

I think you need to get a catch can. These cars are notorious for smoking on start up and it has to do with blow by. I know alot of guys that are running a catch can or even dual breathers. Check out s197forum.com and do a search. I bought one for my car and problem went away immediately. Only had it a week so I can't tell ya if I have in any oil in the catch can but I will drain it in a month and will keep ya posted.

The fuel smell is most likely from not having cats...I would say you can lean it out in the tune but probably need to be on a dyno or have your tuner street tune it if you want it dead on

With the Roushcharger would Doug have tuned it a little rich for safety? I will also check that site about the can.

Cars can be tuned to stoich and will still smell rich as hell if they do not have 'cats'. Other than putting cats back on your car, you will have to live with the smell
