Which Heads for 306?
I'm trying to decide between the AFR 165 & 185 heads.
The rest of the setup will include the following: 306 shortblock AFM B-31 Cam Cobra Intake w/ported lower May add a KB blower in the future or put a plate kit on it. This is a daily driven street car & will remain NA for the immediate future. Also trying to decide between 1 5/8" and 1 3/4" Headers.

If gonna blower in the future I would go with the 185's.

If you were doing an aftermarket block I would say 185's also.
But my 165's were able to make enough power for the stock block limits |

i would either use the 185's or a set of brodix st 5.0's.i would also use the 1 5/8 headers and use a plate.....that kb doesnt make a lot of power on a pushrod motor

185s especally if a power adder is in the future, also remember that they offer a blower cnc job for the same price.

Have you looked at the Edelbrock Victor Jr? It's in the same price range and has a 210cc Intake port with a 2.05" valve. It's a badass all-around head...especially with a blower later.
If it has to be AFR, get the 185 and do something with the exhaust port...maybe the "blower CNC job" (blower-job ) mentioned above will take care of it.

I have personally saw the 165s, 185s 205s, on the flow bench, in my opinion these heads are the best buy. They also come very close to their advertised flow numbers,Without any correction . They also have very good quality parts, (valves, retainers, springs, ect) We have four cars running different stages of these heads and no one has been disappointed.
