Boost and FP Guage Question

I'm going to be putting a turbo on my 05 GT in the near future and i'm starting to piece together some of the supporting mods. My question is:

Should I go with a mechanical or electrical boost guage and fuel pressure guage? What are the pros/cons of each one? I've done a good bit of thread searching on modularfords but wanted to ask some of you guys what you thought about both types.

I'm not sure but I believe the boost only comes in mechnical. Do electrical on the fuel pressure for sure. I would also really consider doing a wideband gage as well. I think its more important than the other gauges.

No the boost gauges come in electric, too. Here's the one i'm looking at...

I'm definately going with a wideband, even though it will be custom tuned right now for only one boost setting. In the future when i build the SB, i'll have a race tune so i'll need to keep an eye on the a/f.

I'm having a tough time matching the gauges with the standard green display in the 05-08 models since I don't have the adjustable lighting feature.

Huh didn't know that, but for the price difference I would do mechanical on the boost gauge. I thought all the newer gt's had the changing lights on the dash?

The AutoMeter electric boost gauges are nice. They allow you to set the warning light to go on at a certain PSI and also have a memory feature so you can go back and see the peak boost (really nice when dynoing the car).

Yeah, I think the best may be to go with the mechanical boost, and electric FP. I've always liked the lunar series, but it doesn't match the black background of my gauge cluster, especially at night.

The multiple lighting feature is an upgrade package that I don't have, or at least I haven't figured out how to do it if I do...lol

I would do electric on both of them. The electric guages have a sending unit that mounts under the hood, which sends an electrical signal to the gauge so it knows what to display. With mechanical guages, you would have to run a vaccum line and fuel line into the car to the back of the guage. Now, the vaccum line isnt really an issue. However, I wouldnt want a fuel line running into the cabin of my car. They do make "remote" units for mechanical fuel guages that will allow you to only have fuel lines under the hood, but if I am not mistaken those require antifreeze to run to the back of the gauge via a tube.

The electric boost guage should do just as well as mechanical if you get a good one, and an electric fuel pressure guage will avoid any issues of running fluids into your cabin.

My buddy's mom has a gt that doesn't have the better wheels or anything and her's does it. I will check and see how to do it. Took them awhile to figure it out to lol
