Re: tire size ?

I ran a 26x10.50 e/t street on my 93.

If we are talking real slicks and not DOT approved slicks a 26x8 et drag will do you fine

Re: tire size ?

Actually you can put a 28x10.5 tire without rolling the fenders. You have to run I belive a 6in backspacing

Re: tire size ?

doesnt raising the tires height essentially make the gear ratio higher? if so why would you want to put any taller tires than necessary.

I don't know for a fact, but I would speculate that the taller the sidewall will lay down more of a contact patch when it wrinkles.

I do know that when running slicks (which are typically larger diameter than your street tires), you do essentially change your gear ratio and have to learn to compensate.

Re: tire size ?

If you are running N/A, the 26x10.5 will fit fine and it will keep your car in the power band. Now if you car is like 1Quick85GT which he shifts around 7k and gears of 4.30s the 26" tire is going to make that engine scream. If he wants to put a taller tire I recomend the Quick time Pro 27X11.50, this tire fits perfect with an 8"rim and a back spacing of 5.50, the only thing to do is roll the lip on the fender, this will make him launch better and less of wheel spin at the launch and give him a more top end charge. In your car, if you are not going to spray, and 3.73 gears go with the 26x8" 04 the 26x10 for more contact patch. I use a taller tire due to the nitrous, one the torque at the launch keep the tire from squating completely and when the tire grows it will give more top end charge. Now if I'll go with the 28x9s which is a 27.1" tall tire, it keeps it in the power band, but less mph at the top and I'll pass the traps around 7k compare to 6700rpm. Hope did not loose you..
