Power Levels and Swap Questions
After some seat time in Lee's SVO, I've contemplated the idea of a SVO as a (road) track car. What kind of HP/Torque numbers can you obtain without going radical and reducing reliability.
89-93 2.3L Fox Bodies, how hard would it be to swap the SVO Engine (with all the supporting electronics)? Can I use the harness out of the newer body along with a Turbo T'bird coupe? I understand that the drivetrain would be a little bit different, but keep in mind that most of the stuff would be swapped out anyway.

You'll be well into a nice SVO by the time you get a swap into a "regular" stang. I wouldn't bother with it. But many people try.
I know two guys in B'ham area who each have SVO's one is an '84 with all '86 updates; he's owned it since new. The other is an '86. Both of the cars have T3/T4 turbo, front-mount ic, exhaust, fuel pump, A237 (FRPP) cam, and supporting hardware. At blakes, they lay down right around 300 to the tires. I've seen them go low 13's...perfectly streetable too. The SVOCA is having a dyno day at Walker Dynotune in two weeks (Fri Sept. 1st): List of participants and Dyno-day info

This guy has done alot of stuff with mustangs and even sells some parts as bolt on. Has a few writeup on how to and what he has done with very little money involed. There are lots of 2.3 swaps on google with even more info. I tried to find the one on 140cilx that was done a few years ago. It is a road race/daily driver mustang lx. He was on a very tight budget also. http://projecthp.ford23.com/TechMain.html Good info http://www.geocities.com/schlodessssu/steves84.htm This sucker know some stuff.

Thats where I am getting all my info from. Going to do a turbo swap into my 93 from a 85 merkur. I like the svo's but they just don't look as good as a newer fox lx to me.

Any Stang people going to be there? More than welcome to show up and watch some 20 year old cars blow some oil out the dip stick. Very fun group to hang with. When I get my A/F fixed I will drive mine all the time. Still rich in the lower rpms when starting boost. Other than that it's a good drive with the Ebach springs and 250 hp at 16 psi. Still get 22 mpg running rich as crap. Some svo's have over 150k on the stock engine. Still you have to like the look to want the car.

I think the SVO and '93 Cobra are the best looking Foxes.
Regardless, I won't make the SVOCA dyno day because I have to work I'll probably make the MCA show and SVO reunion either Sat. or Sun for some time.

hey kerry,

So are the Cummins Diesel turbos and the stinger headers worth the hassle or would a simple t3/t4 hybrid upgrade be equvalent? Which is more cost effective?
