Re: A new hypothesis ...

I have the Edlebrock RPM heads, Typhoon intake, Comp Cams 35-302-8 grind nitrous cam, 10.5:1 copression ratio. My car weighs in at about 3200 with me in it and runs 12.3's driving conservatively due to transmission is stock. All the hp calculators have me making around 350rwhp N/A. So that puts me at over 400 fwhp.

Like Brad said get all the main parts you want to go with and call Comp cams or Ed Curtis of FTI, I would go with calling Ed Cutris if I had it to do over again and may end up going that route shortly. He knows how to get them breathing well, there are a couple guys on stangnet that have his cam and one is running 12.0's in a n/a 95 GT vert with a 302. Search on there for his screenname (killercanary) and look at his combination.

Ahh, I did forget about Ed Curtis. Your right Tommy, he'd be a very good choice for a custom!

Re: A new hypothesis ...

N/A 331 for the street...I'd run a cam somewhere around 226º (284º gross duration) and .540 lift. All on a 112º LSA (X-303 would be nice).
If you use 185's, add about 2º duration to the exhause since the 185's have relatively small exhaust ports...I would put Edelbrock Victor Jr's on the car...That cylinder head is awesome.

Re: A new hypothesis ...

here is a comparision I found on stangnet.

Top is for head flow and the lower is for intake flow.

Re: A new hypothesis ...

Buddy Rawls is also another good choice for a custom cam guy. Whichever one you go with, get involved with them early (read: get them on the payroll). Then, they can get truly involved with your head choice/block prep/compression choices. That way, it is all developed as a system "help me design a motor with xxx HP, xxx drivability, etc, as opposed to "give me the best cam to fit the combo I souced out".

It will be worth it in the long run.

From what I have seen, comparing Buddy to Ed:
• Ed seems to be a little more "race oriented". He likes large tube primaries, etc, on even daily driven combos.
• Buddy is a good ole' boy from AL, Ed is from north of the Mason/Dixon

I like Buddy's attitude better, and that is who I would go with if I were choosing. However, plenty of people like Ed really well too.

I've got a buddy in Knoxville (Michael Yount from the corral) who is a Mechanical Engineer, and LOVES the work this guy does. He is running one of his cams as well. He has a 1982 Volvo with a Ford 302/T5 in it, and it is awesome.
