With that being said, I love the tri-ax! For me it is the best out of the above 3 BUT I have heard so many positive reviews about the MGW, that I am going to try it first in the SVO

I think that "pot metal" is called Aluminum Alloy, isn't it???? To get rid of the noise try making a couple of washers out of a bicycle intertube and put them between the handle and the part that sticks up out of the transmission. Works like a charm

It is an aluminum alloy, but it does feel like it's made out of much cheaper metal than the rest of the shifter (which is made of 6061 T6 aluminum). I believe the Pro 5.0 has a solid steel handle though.

yes it is. I used that term loosely.

I refer to it that way because when you look at and feel the handle of the tri-ax it is cheap. The design is perfect but when you compare the material it is made of to the others I listed, it looks cheap.

Based off the way I shift when I have had enough seat time at the track during most years, I would be afraid to put any type of rubber gasket between the handle because something would break. If a shifter handle is not very tight, I have a tendency to loosen them in a few passes at the track.
Ask Jeanyus and Italian

He loosened the bolts in my shifter in ONE pass down the track.

The tranny noise comes from removing all the rubber crap. That's why the stock shifter feels so sloppy - it's got a lot of soft material in it to dampen vibrations and cut down on noise.
Thanks for the info on the CobraBob gasket....was gonna give it a try, but not now....

Like I said, maybe it's just a difference in trannies or maybe mine in particular is noisy. I've heard a lot of great stuff about them, but it seems just as loud to me in my car. It was nice not having to mess with RTV or anything though. Just put the gasket on and bolt the shifter down.

Re: Pro 5.0 Shifter

I am having trouble getting use to the clank. The stock shifter didn't make any noise, I guess I am a creature of habit.
