A9L with 98 exployer 5.0l
what issues would there be if i was to run a 98 exployer 5.0 with a A9L and 90 mustang harness. the motor isnt being used in the exployer, it is going to be a swap project.
i have been told that for it to run properly i will need to us a tunner. just looking for more info from other sources. the motor is stock just like it was in the exployer. |

Ok you are taking the 5.0 out of the explorer and installing it some where else using a harness from a 90 mustang and using a a9l right? If so I don't see a problem other than the cams having a different firing order.

I thought only 5.0s in the mustang had the H.O. firing order. Correct me if wrong.

There are other things to consider too. The injectors maybe the EV1 style which use a different connector. The 98 Explorer also uses EDIS which means you will need a distributor. You can use the EDIS if you would like but you would definatley need a tuner and an EDIS8 module.
Also the entire pully setup is different. It is inset toward the motor about 3/4 inch. This was because of the tight fit in the explorer.
