Oil level

I changed the oil in the F150 last night, and I put 7 quarts in it as the manual specifies. However the oil level is only about 1/3 of the way up the dip stick. My question is should I add more or just leave it?

At least you checked here and not corvetteforums.

I would add until it was "good" on the dipstick...but make sure the dipstick is all the way into the tube.

When in doubt, trust your dipstick. LOL.

Those old farts don't check their own oil, but they do know where to find a polished oil-fill cap.

As long as it is in the 'pattern etch' of the dipstick, then it is full. Anywhere in that area is considered 'full'

Yep, that's what I meant...it's about 1/3 up the etched area.

Next time you need to change your oil, let me know. I have a lift. No more using a creeper.

That'd be awesome. The truck is no big deal, but despite my fat burning efforts I still can't quite fit under the Z06.

Meh, my truck calls for 6 qts with filter, and it shows slightly over the full mark.
