Re: anyone here build their engine from a stroker shortblock?

I built my motor, the only thing I didnt do myself was bored the block and balanced everything. I filed the rings, put them on the pistons, notched the block, like I said i did everything except for boring and balancing, it only cost me 300.00. Heck I will sell my motor to ya, if you are interested...runs 10s on the motor....let me know... sorry Edgar

i like the offers but i feel it'd be more interesting to go through the process myself. it gives more of that "this is mine" feeling...plus i really want this setup.

It doesn't sound like you're going to be doing much of it yourself. Also, with the heads it's no longer a shortblock. You can buy a nice DSS longblock for around 6k. They'll handle 650+ with not too much trouble.

If you wanna throw some money around I'd be glad to put that drivetrain in for you. I'd even save you thousand bucks if you bring a copy of this thread with you!

wow you must be making significant torque to run 10 on engine with 400-425 hp...that is rear wheel correct?....do you run slicks and drag suspension?

Re: anyone here build their engine from a stroker shortblock?

Mine put down 410hp and 433tq at the wheels with 6500 rpms at the Dyno, by the times it ran on motor its more likely 450hp and 450 tq base on the weight of the car w/driver 3300lbs. On the nitrous 590hp and 640ft lbs with a very fat A/F ratio of 10:1. Car ran an 11.20 at 120 off the trailer( tight nitrous converter) and did not mess with it at all, probably a bit more of timing it would of run 11.0s or high 10s on the motor. I have not spray it yet cause the track would not hold it, so just waiting for 1st track to open and then test with the 225 shot. Car has ran before 9.81 at 137mph, but hopefully that now is pretty close to the tune it should run mid 9s. Good luck with your set up:

Edgar
If I was running motor only, with a 4800 stall converter and 4.30 gears it will run easy 10.50s on motor.

Edgar, are you challenging me on the motor buddy..lol....j/k What gear are you running?

I run my car on slicks, I only have 70/30 struts, 50/50 rear shocks, UPR lower and steeda uppers, with stock rear springs and 4 cylinder front springs..

Stephen, gears are 3.73. I have exactly the same shocks, rear suspension is Mac uppers amd Megabite JRs, lowers. If I do the changes I want to do, it might run 10s all day long on motor. I want to put a 3.47 stroke cranck with a 4.100 piston and a solid roller. That will be 370ci!
