Re: top end q's?

...since you're dead-set on the B-cam ... ditch the 1.7's and use 1.6's. The B was actually designed for them anyways due to the quick ramp-speed on the lobe. Then you'll be fine with those big 2.02 Valves on the 185's.

Re: top end q's?

you should be fine with the cam you have chosen. My AFM cam has a .544 lift with 1.6 rocker arms and I ran this with OEM pistons before the motor went . Even though my valves are smaller (1.90), it helps that the AFR heads have in-line valves where as the TFS heads do not. This is why .525 lift is the max recommended with OEM pistons and trickflow heads

I also ran 1.72 rocker arms w/ a 'B' cam and had no clearance issues. You WILL NEED a custom tune with this cam. Driveability will suck without a tune but your entire powerband will be great. Obviously, a custom cam would be a better choice but if you are on a budget like the rest of us, you will do fine with the 'B' cam.

Parts you will need on a N/A setup...

Headgaskets ( fel-pro 1011-2)
intake gaskets (fel-pro 1262's)
header gaskets (probably fel-pro 1415's)
ARP head bolts
Hardened pushrods (6.250 inches) trickflow chrome moly's preferably
Timing Chain (while you are there)
Gaskets for the front of the motor.
Use your OEM gaskets

Make sure you check rocker arm clearance in the valve covers. I am 99% positive you will need to remove the baffle in the valve cover to clear the rocker arm that sits under it.

Re: top end q's?

If you getting the 185s with the 1.90 you'll have no issues with the 1.72s and the B cam, I ran that cam that came with my GT-40 I had, the only mod I did was the 1.72s and a Vic JR intake, motor it ran 12.50 at 107 and when I put a 150 shot car ran 11.32 at 119. If you are going with the 2.02s is going to kil a bit of your bottom end due to the huge flow you going to have, but then you can improve latter on, with a blower or the juice... There are off the shelve pistons, forge better suited for the 2.02 valves than buying the Hyper... pistons plus the forge ones have longer durability.

165's come with 1.90/1.60 valves

Re: top end q's?

check flowtech for a cam. they are really not that high considering you are getting a cam speciffically for your application.

Re: top end q's?

get a cam motions custom grind....but the b cam will work well

i have used the b cam with 1.7 roller rockers on several engines that all made in excess of 300rwhp.if you can afford a custom grind get one if not just use the b cam.

what is the rest of your combo going to be...intake etc.

as for the valve covers the stockers you have wont work on those heads.you will need some valve covers from a 93 gt in order for everything to clear.and go ahead and delete the egr stuff while you're doing this all to.....trust me

I didn't realize the sn95 valve covers were different
