More AOD ?s
In Edgar's thread ya'll commented on low 13's to high 12's with his list of bolt-ons on a 302. HOW??? The vert use to be a 5spd(wish it still was) but it would run 12.60 with 1.7s 60s on street tires. Now with this DAMN over weight slush box with a shift kit and a B+M 2400 stall(#40430) its lucky to run in the 13s with a 2.20 60s. I don't get it. Today I was bored so out came the convertor and ended up wtih a trip to summit to swap it out for a 3000 stall(#40431) to see if it would help. Finished it up and went out on several test drives I can't tell no danm differance other than the shifts are actually not as harsh. Am I missing something???

Its not spinning of the line. Its has 3.73s with 26x10.50s. I have called a couple of performance transmission shops and been told it should be not of lost no more than 3 tenths. I know the convertor has alot to do with it butt wouldn't you think a 3000 would be enough??? With this new convertor it doesn't try to pull as hard just idling. The best I've been able to foot brake is just 2200 WTF??? Any ideas?? There isn't such a thing that a convertor needs to be broke in is there?? Its all mechanical fluid preasure so there shouldn't be right? I bet I should have order a custom convertor but shit 600.00 is a bit much. Oh and Is there anything to do other than a 500 valve body to keep that stupid 2-3 shift other than back putting back to 1?

You're answering your own questions.
Put a Precision Industries Stallion in it. Put some 4.10's in. And spend the money on a valve body. It will do what you want then. Yea, it's pricey but it will be strong.

And you ran 1.7 60' with street tires and a 5-speed?
Do you consider ET Streets street tires?

Nope some good ole 255-40-17 perilli p8000. I was shocked they were that low I expected maybe a 1.8 at the best. ET streets saw low 1.6s would have been better but its a vert don't want to twist it in two.

A Bauman Engineering shift kit can raise the shift points and firm up the shifts. I think they run around $70 and are pretty easy to install.

Nope the car has a drag luanch kit with 90/10 struts 50/50 shocks one air bag with 20 lbs of air in the tires. This car leaves out hard. I'll see if I can't round up some pics and post um.
