1997 v6 to 1999 v8 swap troubles

hi everyone, i am in the middle of the swap and would like to get any technical info i can

ok here it is

1997 v6 conv to a 1999 gt conv

swapping

engine
trans
drive shaft
(rear axle is still 7.5 for now)
99 gt gas tank
fuel lines and fuel pump
hydraboost booster
99gt master cylinder
99 gt proportioner valve
engine wiring
ecu and ecu harness
have to do below becuse of course the connectors dont match up
and i cant find a detailed wiring schematic on both cars
dash harness
body harness(from ecu back
under hood harness

please someone tell me i am not doing this in vain and have a silver lining soon

i am worried basicaly about the pats system and the connectors not matching up to the dash components

any help or diagrams would be greatly appreciated

if anyone wants to know why i am doing this swap its for 2 basic reasons

#1 i have a mint 1997 red v6 convertable with 85k miles never wrecked or any other damage
#2 i really want the power of a 1999+ engine in the 1994-1998 body style

thanks for any help

Unless you got all of that stuff very cheap, it's probably easier and cheaper to buy a 96-98 GT and do a PI swap or just buy a 99+GT.

Other than that, I'm pretty much useless.

Sounds like a good deal...But have you thought about insurance? I know I've heard some bad stories about people doing swaps and then insurance not covering any of it when an accident occurred.

However, good luck. One thing I can say is, if you have all of that out already, get some internal work done on it, unless you are 100% sure you will never want much more power out of it. Personally, it's a great time to forge that sucker and rebuild the tranny.

Do you have all of the harnesses?

Also it would make life a lot better on you if you would have used the factory fuel system and upgraded the pump since you are taking out a return style system and installing a returnless style. (which cannot support the power that a return style can)

My recommendations,

use a 96-98 harness EEC, dash, etc
use your current fuel system and upgrade pump
use a 96-98 GT EEC

I was going to say the same thing...you should have stayed with the return fuel system. I agree with the Wiring recomendation as well.
99+ engines are able to use the full harness from a 96-98. The main difference is there is an extra temp sensor on the driverside. That can be taken care of by tapping the aluminum crossover on the intake, or extending the temp sensor wiring and installing the sensor in a treaded coolant bung below the driverside head on the back of the block.

You might want to post you question as well on http://forums.modulardepot.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4

By the way, welcome to the board!

Couldn't he still use the newer fuel system since he was staying stock? Also since the ford gt pumps are being installed the returnless systems can go pretty high in the hp range now.
