Thinking about a C4 swap,need some input.

Ok,I've been kicking around the idea of swapping a C4 in place of my AOD. I know where a Turbo coupe C4 is for REAL cheap, and even after a rebuild (and possibly a transbrake ) I would not be into it for very much money. I know I'd have one gear less, which would be a disadvantage on the street, but the advantages seem to outweigh that,IE; more durable, lighter, cheaper to mod, etc, etc. Tell me what other advantages/disadvantages there would be to the swap.

What year turbo coupe? If memory serves me right, the t-c's came with the dreaded A4LD. I know I pulled one out of my 87 when I went to a t-5. Good for a boat anchor, not much else.

I'm not sure Don,it's a 4 eye T-coupe,and it's definately a C4. It's sitting in the trunk of the car,so I got a real good look at it. I know I'd have to swap the bellhousing,but I just happen to have a C4 shortshaft from a '71 F-100 that was a 302 truck.

According to www.turbotbird.com the 83-86 turbo coupes had a C-3 in them. 87-88's had the A4LD. The 83-86's are the 4-eyed.

Probably a 10" with a 2800-3000 stall.

Crap! I did'nt think about the C3! I know some of the parts between the C4 and C3 are interchangeable,I just wonder if the output shaft and tail shaft would work on my C4?

waypastcrazy has some c-4 parts if u need them and cheap.

and i think the trans brake/manual valve body is the way to go if you are going to racing it! and on the street it will still be like a stick car

That's what I'm probably going to do. I know you can use some of the AODE internals in an AOD to beef it up. I don't see me getting a transbrake for it though, they run $700-$900 on the AOD!
