My LightningFest06 / 93Lightning Saga - - - - - Part 1

This is a LONG STORY.
I plan on dividing it up to at least 4 parts

Part 1

Lets go back in time . . . about 3 months ago.

This whole story started with one project.
I bought Mike’s (Black P-38) complete 94 model R134a A/C system ( compressor, A/C box, every line, bracket, fittings, bolts . . .everything) so that I could convert my 93 R12 truck over to the new system.

This was about the same time that someone (I think it was Sparkman) had posted a thread “3 months till Lightning Fest” so I set up a plan.

My plan was to spend the first 6 weeks on installing the new A/C system, a good engine cleaning and detailing, flip my intake, and make new cold side turbo pipes.

The second 6 weeks I would slowly install new brakes, wheel bearings, do a gear swap, and do a lot of general maintenance that the Lightning needs before heading out on a 1600 mile round trip to LFest with 211,000 miles on it.

Well the first 6 weeks I got a lot accomplished. Even more than I planned.

Oh, by the way . . this was the first time the valve covers had ever been removed from this engine (the lower intake was removed once years ago to fix an oil leak at the rear) other than that the motor had never been touched.

Here is a list of the stuff I did:

New hood to cowl seal
Deleted the antenna
A/C conversion complete (except for charging system)
Cleaned and painted frame from firewall forward
Cleaned and painted engine
Powder coated all accessory brackets
Powder coated GT40 lower intake
Relocated windshield washer tank to opposite side
New radiator.overflow tank
Intake flip and new intake
Moved Cruise control module and lengthened the wiring
Lengthened complete engine harness to route against firewall
Built an “Electrical Control Panel” for my MSD, solenoid and stuff
Relocated Battery to under bed
Disassembled A/C compressor and powder coated housing and pulley
Disassembled Alternator and powder coated
New cold side turbo pipes made from aluminum and to accomodate intake flip
Many more little things I cant think of right now. I didn’t get pics of everything I did (which is unlike me) sorry.

Is that a standard location or is that a "Engineered by Eric" special?

It looks similar to the color I chose, which I believe was die-cast iron.
