Now a TURBO 306...

HERE'S THE LATEST UPDATE ON THE FORMER 347 TURBO:

He decided to keep the turbo kit and threw together a stock-crank, stock-rods, .030 over stock replacement piston 306. It's got a stock cam (the other had too much lift) and the Victor Jr's with a Victor EFI. 55# injectors and and AOD. Remember; the car's not intercooled either...This car is docile, quiet, and drove to & from Blakes.

After some fuel-pressure & timing tuning, here's the numbers. Decided to stop because of the bottom end. 18 psi.

Notice and compare the 347 curve (Comp 266 HR cam with .560-ish lift) with the stock cam curve!

Re: Now a TURBO 306...

that graph looks strange to me. I thought turbo cars always produced a higher value on the torque side compared to the horsepower.

also why does the power fall off so much through the rpms? Is it because of the lack of an intercooler.

Nice numbers by the way

Re: Now a TURBO 306...

Those bottom curves are torques. The convertor is supposed to be 3k...The owner says it's great on the street. I think it was flashing. Or maybe the fluid was hot?!
Power was climbing. Every psi we added upped the power about 15. We could've done 500. But why. It's just a stock motor already being stressed.

NOt bad. I really thought it would be about 100hp higher than that with those heads and 18#. Is it a non-lockup converter? That would soak up the 100hp it's missing pretty quick.

I bet it's a beat on the street!

Yea, but the stock cam is limiting it as is aways the case on these 302's. The turbo is a bit oversized as well; would probably pick up 100+ hp with a pretty big camshaft...and on a lower boost level.

Re: Now a TURBO 306...

I had the same combo at one time. SBE with heads and intake. Dynoed 540hp 680tq and ran 6.36 at 113. Cant wait to see what that runs! Keep us informed.
