Why and how is there more heat? You get a way more effecient combustion by running the plug gap wider.

Unless you have a really nice CD ignition and a sensitive knock-sensor, you should always narrow the gap a bit on the Jug. The spark only starts the combustion, so has nothing to do with the completeness of burn...or the burn-rate. A multi-spark CD ignition helps, but narrowing the gap is just a little insurance.

the only ignition upgrade i have right now is a MSD 6aL. the rest is stock. i'm trying to get that window switch from matt. i don't know if it matters on the gap but its a wet kit. thanks for the info guys.

it gives you a more intense,concentrated spark for the initial combustion,and lowers the possibility for detonation!

picked up some autolite 23 last night. i got a little confused on the gap since ya'll have mixed opinions. i'll probably gap them around .040 or .044 that sound aight ?

Mine are at the stock gap of .045. (Well that's the stock gap on a 93 cobra) but I have a 6A box too

To back up some of what coupe said, I wouldn't run then at the stock gap of a 5.0 HO which is .054.

I say no tighter than .040.
