Re: 1996GT - Automatic - PI swap

good numbers. I know just a PI intake alone on my car made a world of differenec. from 3K rpms up to redline it pulled quite a bit harder.

Gears will also make a world of difference as well and you'll strangely get better gas mileage also.

BTW, I've got a near unused 4R70W transmission if you're interested. You'd need to find a way to modify the wiring harness for the tranny to work with it. The guys over at modular depot say it can be done but I never got around to it.

If you want it, I'd be willing to part with it for a few hundred bucks. I think new, they go for over a grand from ford. Even if you don't use it as a swap, I'm sure if you got your current transmission overhauled you could use the parts from this one since it's essentially the same thing.

Re: 1996GT - Automatic - PI swap

I believe a 99 or 2000. I know it was after 98 becuase the 96~98 4R70W's are a direct swap but in 99 ford changed the plug's a little and you'd either have to splice on a new connector that would fit into the trans or get a 99+ auto tranny harness. I talked to dave about it and a few other guys at modular depot. There are several guys who have done it in thunderbirds actually.
