^^^what he said,the steering wheel only has to come off to get to the screws on the turn signal cam!,sorry 'bout not clarifying that!

ok I got the cover off but do not know what to pull, there is a plug behind the switch but I cannot seem to pull it out b/c it is blocked by some metal thing

Fords are know for the wires to come lose in the connector. I wouldn't just pull on the wires going into the connector. I'd remove the knee brace panel and drop the column down to have a good look at the wires feeding into the connector.
