Go ahead and pull the valve covers and make sure none of the springs are broken.

probably wouldn't hurt to take a look would it....although at idle or a tad bit more there is no problem, it's just under load/and anything other than light acceleration

It may have already been mentioned but double and triple check the plug wires, could be a couple swapped.

Running rich will cause an engine surge at idle, but your pop sounds like either a lean misfire or a lifter pumping up. Did you restab your dist? The reluctor wheel syncs your injectors and if your #1 plug wire is not in the correct location it will cause injector sequence issues, For example if your a tooth off and have to move the wires on the cap to get enough dist. movement to time the engine.

http://www.streetstangs.net/showthread.php?t=6717 For the most part, it seemed to run fine at idle and cruising speeds, but it would miss and pop through the intake under the slightest load.

been helping a friend/neighbor move the last 2 days and have about 3 more hours worth of work....(time to catch up on all my yards) THEN I can maybe take a look at this....thanks for the suggestions guys. I will check wires again, but have done that several times (not to say a little gremlin didn't swap them)
I'll report back with results one way or the other Brad

got it running ALOT better today...think the combination of a speed density map/bap and a blockage in the fuel line had something to do with it (mostly map/bap) I blew out the fuel lines with some air and along with a new filter and some 93 octane gas it runs ALOT better...will have updated pics/video this evening when my son gets home from his fieldtrip (got the camera)....
