The flywheel basically "stores" energy. Since the steel one is heavier, it carries more momentum. It gets the car moving easier and "hits" the tires harder on the drag strip. I don't really like the way it acts on the street. I don't really know how to describe it, it's just different.

OK, so then its an aluminum flywheel for better street manners and daily-driving! Thanks! ps. so how's the 3+ fare as far as being in a daily driven car.....hard to slip from a stop, or ??? I've read that these clutches hold like grim-death, but can be cumbersome to negotiate? I assume that sentiment has a lot to do with the infamous "driver-mod"?

The 3+ is either "on" or "off". There is not really any middle ground. It's grabby, but it's trade off for minimal pedal effort with high torque capacity. It's not too bad once you get used to it, though.

yeah with the 3+ you just kinda have to go when you wanna start moving. there is no half assing it while driving.

Thanks for the info, guys....really appreciate it alot.
I'm sure there'll be alotta stall-outs, and stumbles during my "learning curve" with this clutch. Also, have read alot about the incredible "chatter" during the 500 mile break-in period. Gotta say I'm not looking forward to that at all.... Btw, where's Coupe? He works for SPEC, right?? Been hoping he'd chime in here at some point...?? Joseph... did u do any kinda head-cooling mod, free-play correction mod, etc. when the clutch went in? thanks again Chris

I had the LDC cooling mod done when the clutch was put in. I didn't put the clutch in myself. I had the shop that SPEC uses put the clutch in since SPEC was borrowing my car to take some measurements for the twin disc.
The chatter isn't as bad as people on the internet make it out to be. It does chatter some, but it didn't drive me crazy or anything.

The "chatter" that everybody complains about is the vibration you hear/feel when letting the clutch out from a stop. It's typical of "grabby" clutches because of their on/off nature.
