opinions on hp please.

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this. But here it goes.I am at a place in my build where for just a little bit of a change I can move from 700 hp na give or take a little to 800 plus.but will take a little more maintenance and loose some driveability.just trying get a few opinions.I don't want to take the fun factor away. Should I leave alone and just add little spray or what?

Depends on what the "change" is. I can tell you this: 700hp is more than enough to be insane on the highway and to run 9's with relative ease.

The change is a little more port work and a cam that is rougher on valve train parts

Your post is pretty ambiguous, but I personally think a 700-ish hp car that was streetable would be way more fun than a 800 hp car with poor driveability. I wouldn't have a car that I couldn't cruise around town in, though.

Personally I think when drivability starts to suffer it's not really fun/enjoyable anymore. It's easy to get caught up in the HP game but if this is a car you still like to drive on the street I wouldn't get too crazy with it.

I agree. That is what's cool about a car with boost.

15psi on a very mild motor equals lots of fun

the more cubes the more street friendly it will be.thats eqautes to 1.4 hp per cubic inch and that is being a little conservative.and my hp will peak approximately 5 to 800 rpm lower so this will not be a high rpm engine.

and my rotating assembly is a substantial amount lighter than stock configurated size pistons and rods so rpms will come on quick

heres a 512 cube motor with 1 point more compress but 45 cubes smaller. From Charlie and Lem Evans...

Very impressive combo!

In regards to the question posted above somewhere, I'll try to give a brief description of the engine.

1. DIVE 2 bolt main block with offset ground cast production crank. Wet sump and no vacuum pump.
2. 6.800" Eagle rods with JE pistons and a 12.8:1 compression ratio.
3. Motorsport/Edelbrock Victor intake manifold for the Dominator carbs. Plus a 1" open spacer and a 1" HVH Super Sucker spacer. 2" total.
4. Biggs 1050 3 circuit carb with 92 sq. jets on race gas.
5. Ford Duraspark SVO by MSD distributor
6. Comp Cams roller cam. It was an old one of Lem's that had been reground with the following specs; 275*/285* @ .050", .759"/.762" lift, LSA 111*, and intake centerline of 111*.
7. Ported head flow #'s
Intake avg.
.200=148, .300=233, .400=301, .500=335, .600=357, .700=373, .800=378 cfm.
Exhaust avg.
.200=116, .300=147, .400=172, .500=184, .600=222, .700=232, .800=234 cfm.

800Hp @ 6700.
Torque was 680 @ 5200

Just a rather basic 512 CID engine and I'm sure there are several of you that can and have done better, none the less, this was a fairly good engine and I attribute it's good numbers to the camshaft and intake port flow.

Leave it alone it is plenty enough hp and torque and a lot more streetable than a maxed out 302 block and you only have 2600 lbs to move down the track it is going to be a handful as it is. just get it finished so we can bust some ass!I am tired of waiting and net gona kick your tail if you keep on she done said 700 is to much and already wanting dyno sheets to prove it is not more than that lmao she gona shut you down and I am going to have to drive it! Lol stop screwing around!
